Lacy Moebius Scarves
2 Hours $ 30 per Session
Intermediate Level Knitters
Course Description:
Knit a lacy moebius scarf! This elegant scarf can be a dressy addition to an outfit, or a pretty gift. The yarn used makes a scarf that looks fine and delicate, but is also surprisingly warm. Since this moebius only calls for one ball, it is an economical way to indulge in a beautiful yarn!
Supplies:
1 ball Rowan's Kidsilk Haze or Crystal Palace's Kid Merino; size 8 circular needle, 40" or longer; stitch markers: 1 for beginning of round, and 17 others that are different from your beginning of round marker; something to mark your place on a chart (optional); about 18" of contrasting yarn to be used as waste yarn (smooth cotton is a good choice, but any smooth yarn will do); homework swatch and needles.
Homework:
With Kidsilk Haze or Kid Merino and size 8 needles, cast on 144 sts using the moebius cast on. Check to see that there is only one cross in your needle, place marker for beginning of round, and purl one round. (Don't forget that you will need to work every other stitch of the first half-round through the back loop so that it won't be twisted.) There should be 288 stitches on the needle. Bring to class with yarn attached.
With light-colored worsted or DK weight yarn (any leftovers from another project will do – about 15 yds will be plenty) and needles that you usually use for that yarn, cast on 40 sts. Knit 6 rows. Leave on needles and bring to class with yarn attached. (Do not bind off.)
